Wilson Dos Santos

I purchased this car online in March of 2006 in England and imported to Canada. It was the first thing I'd ever purchased on ebay! The logistics of bringing a car from England to Vancouver is interesting. Clearing Canada Customs was an experience I'll likely never forget! The inspection, licensing/registration and insurance process is also something I'll likely not forget as well.

This is a photo of the interior just after it was installed while still in England.

This is a photo of the ship that my car was loaded onto at the Port of South Hampton in England. This is a RoRo ship (Roll-on Roll-off). It is effectively a high-tech ferry. RoRo shipping is the most economical way to ship a single vehicle. Container shipping is only cost effective if you're shipping multiple cars. The voyage took 26 days with stops in South Carolina, Southern California and Tacoma. The ship continued onto Japan after leaving Tacoma. It was fun watching the ship pass through a lock at the Panama Canal on a web cam.

This is a photo of the car that the previous owner had taken. I was surprised to see a photo that shows snow. I never envisioned snow in England for some reason-silly I know!

This is a photo of the interior that used to be in my car. As when I purchased it The previous owner had outfitted the car with racing interior and various racing components. I had the interior completely replaced while the car was still in England.

This is a photo that was used in the ebay listing. It illustrates that the car was in reasonably good condition at the time of sale. I viewed many detailed photos of the car prior to making my bid.

I found someone on ebay in the Netherlands that illustrates cartoon renderings from photos of your Mini... So, I had to have one!

This is a photo of my old car. This was taken the day that I sold it to the Blahak's of Flagstaff, Arizona. They had seen the car at MMW '91 at Whistler and contacted me a few weeks after the show to make a purchase offer. I understand Shirley's since sold the car to a member of their club and it's now painted green and is called "The Pickle".

This is a photo of my old car that was taken to be used for the program for the ABFM in Portland in 1988.

This is a photo of my friend and I at the ABFM in Portland, OR. in 1988. That was a long time ago!

This is a photo of my old car just after installing a fibreglass air dam. Ground effects were all the rage back then!

This is a photo of my old car shown at the Van Dusen ABFM in 1991.
