| Day 2 was the rally. The weather was threatening all day. It
was kind of a destination rally where you followed the course route with printed
directions which were clear and concise to a destination where you had to find answers to
the questions you were given. The first stop was the Garden of the Gods, a real bizarre
rock formation, then onto the Royal Gorge which has a suspension bridge with a wooden deck
over 1000ft above the river below, (very touristy, but amazing). Stops were also made at
the Pikes Peak racing museum and the Broadmore Hotel if you so desired.
The finish was at Cripple Creek an old gold mining town which seems to having nothing
but casinos, the slots got all of my money. For tie breakers there were some very tricky
questions and a word jumble. It was an all day event which took approximately 6 hours to
complete, although time was not a factor, and well worth it for the sites that we saw.
It did rain off and on that day and then it absolutely pored that night with a few
mini's getting caught with their tops down. |
